Where is my credit history stored? Central credit register
I have been struggling to pay my debt to a bank or collector. But is my credit history known to other banks and financial institutions and how will it affect my future relationship with them?
When I am late with my loan installments, my bank has the right to enter my debt as overdue in the Central Credit Register with the BNB.
What is the Central Credit Register (CCR)?
The Central Credit Register is a BNB Information System for credit indebtedness of customers to banks and financial institutions as well as to payment institutions and electronic money companies. This means that the register covers information on all financial services provided not only by banks but also by fast loan companies, collector companies and payment systems and institutions such as BORICA and Easypay. The information in the register is available to me as well as to other banks and financial institutions. This means that if I want to get a new loan but have delayed the payment of the previous one, it will be harder and perhaps even impossible to get good terms from the banks I am negotiating with, because the registry provides them with access to information my credit history.
How can I request a statement of my obligations from the Central Credit Register?
I can request a statement about the duties I entered in the CCR by means of a written application in a form. I can submit the application in one of the following ways:
personal;
through a representative authorized by an explicit power of attorney certified by a notary;
by mail, as previously notary certified my signature on the application.
Important! Information can also be obtained by my heirs who complete an application for heirs in a template. For this purpose they shall attach to the application the following documents:
certificate of inheritance;
a copy of the birth certificate where the heir is a minor;
a custodian / guardian certificate when the heir is a minor.
My heirs owe the same fees I owe.
How much will it cost me and what documents do I need?
I do not owe a fee if I want to get my report within 14 days. If my report is needed sooner, before I file the application, I pay a fee, which is between BGN 2 and BGN 20 depending on how long I need it. I have to bring with me an ID card or a BULSTAT registration certificate / certificate of current status of a commercial company - in case I represent my company as a manager.
What is the order for receiving the reference from the Central Credit Register?
Information from the CCR can be provided to me in one of the following ways:
in writing personally against signature;
the person authorized by me with an explicit power of attorney certified by a notary;
to a third party, which I have explicitly indicated in the application as a recipient;
by mail with acknowledgment of receipt at my address.
If the BNB refuses to provide me with the information, I have to notify me in writing by indicating the reason for the refusal.
I received my report from the CCR, but found that the information on my obligations was inaccurate. What are my rights?
It is important to know that the BNB can not change the information in the Central Credit Register. The responsibility for the correctness of the data submitted to the registry lies with banks, financial institutions, payment institutions and electronic money companies. Only they can make adjustments to their own data.
I have the right to request removal of the errors in the registry. For this purpose, I must file a written statement with the bank, to which I have a liability in an incorrectly stated amount or a non-existent liability. I do not owe a fee for reviewing the application. The bank must review my application within 7 business days and respond in writing.
If my claim is well founded, the bank will make a correction and will submit the corrected data to the CCR.
Fixing what inaccuracies can I request?
I can request the correction of any discrepancy in my credit information, such as:
I have already paid my full or partial debt, but it is still reflected in the CCR as unpaid;
I have renegotiated terms on my credit, but the changes are not reflected in the CCR;
the obligation entered in the register is not known to me and I believe it does not exist.
It is important to know that if I repay my overdue credit, it will continue to be reflected in the Central Credit Register report, but only as historical data. This is because the information on my credit indebtedness includes both the current status of loans and the arrears of already repaid loans. Data is stored for 5 years and then deleted.
And if my duty entered in the CCR is already time-barred?
If my debt is expired, the bank may continue to seek payment, but I do not have to pay it and I can do
