RESIDENCE VISA

A residence visa is a permit issued by the Republic of Bulgaria for entry and residence, transit or airport transit of a specific foreign person.

In order to apply for a Bulgarian visa, every foreigner should have a regular document for travel abroad, which:

• be issued within the previous 10 years and its validity expires at least three months after the planned date of departure from the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria or in case of multiple visits - after the last planned date of departure from the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria,

• contain at least two blank visa pages.

 

Visas are issued by the diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Bulgaria.

TYPES OF VISAS

  • • Type A visa (for airport transit) - entitles the alien to cross or reside in the international transit area of ​​the airport, on a stopover or a change of flight, in order to continue the journey to another country. A foreigner residing in a transit hall for international flights with an airport transit visa is not allowed to leave the transit hall. This Visa can be: single, double or (exceptionally) multiple. The latter is valid for up to 3 months from the date of issue.
  •  Type C visa (for short-term stay for transit or planned stay) - for transit is issued to a foreigner who wishes to pass through the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria on the way to another country for which he holds a visa, when required . The transit visa entitles the alien to one, two or (exceptionally) several transits, each for up to two days. It can be valid for up to 12 monthsThe total duration of stay on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria with a transit visa may not exceed 90 days within every 6 months from the date of first entry.
  • • Type D visa (for long-term residence) - issued to a foreigner who wishes to establish a permanent or permanent residence in the Republic of Bulgaria. gives the right to multiple entry into the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria within the term of its validity. The long-term residence visa is annulled upon issuance of a residence permit by the bodies for administrative control of foreigners.

    A long-term residence visa with a validity period of up to 6 months and a right of residence of up to 180 days is issued to a foreigner who wishes to establish a permanent or permanent residence in the Republic of Bulgaria. For long-term residence with a validity of up to one year and a right of residence of up to 360 days may be issued to foreigners who carry out research or are students in training programs up to one academic year, postgraduates or trainees, foreigners seconded by foreign employer for the performance of specific tasks related to the control and coordination of the implementation of a contract for tourist services, as well as of foreigners seconded by a foreigner;

    The application for a visa shall be submitted in a form not earlier than 3 months before the date of the planned trip in person or through an authorized representative, except in cases of humanitarian reasons.

    The application for a visa for minors or persons placed under guardianship shall be submitted by their legal representatives or by a person expressly authorized by them.

    The application for a visa for minors or persons placed under limited guardianship shall be submitted by their legal representatives, trustees or by a person expressly authorized by them.
