The Ministry of Interior builds a Palace of Passport for BGN 370 mln.

The Ministry of Interior wants to build a new building in which to print all kinds of identity documents. The future "Palace of Passport" is part of a public procurement contract that will be announced by the Interior Ministry on Wednesday - August 15th.

 

To BGN 370 mln is the estimated price of the auction for the new system for personal documents, learned "Trud" from sources in the Ministry of Interior. The amount includes not only the construction of the new printing works but also a complete renovation of the building of the former police directorate of Lions Bridge.

 

The system will be centralized, just the opposite of the current one, which has been in operation since 2010. At present, there are 30 points in the country where passports, ID cards, driver's licenses, temporary and permanent foreigners, etc. are issued.

 

In the future, all the documents will be printed in the new building, which will be built on a land owned by the Academy of the Ministry of Interior near the Simeonovo neighborhood in Sofia. The premises will be under enhanced security with controlled access - cameras, motion sensors, etc., and the system will have a strong defense against hacker attacks.

 

The Lavov Bridge service center will accept applications from citizens from all Sofia districts and settlements in the country, which aims at avoiding queues. At the same time, the current passport services will remain, but with a smaller number of staff.
