MEPs are discussing regulation of fuel activities

Members of the groups of all parties represented in parliament propose the introduction of registration and control over persons engaged in economic activities related to oil and petroleum products in order to achieve certainty and predictability in trade in oil and petroleum products and to increase energy stability of the country. According to the importers, the new legislation would lead to the identification of economic operators carrying out activities related to petroleum products, reduction of the gray sector in the main branch of the Bulgarian economy, increase the collection of customs and tax liabilities from these activities and ensuring fair competition on the fuel market in the country. In addition, it is considered that the Draft Law on the Administrative Regulation of Economic Activities Related to Oil and Petroleum Products would fill a gap in the Bulgarian legislation as it does in the neighboring countries, as they have already adopted similar sectoral laws.
