The privileges of student mothers

    All mothers-students with children up to 6 years of age are eligible for financial scholarships and grants, as well as benefits related to the learning process. Student mothers have the right to take the exam at any time of the school year and to enroll next year, even if they have more exams. They may also interrupt their studies in more exams. With the permission of the Dean, they have the opportunity to attend 50% of the lectures and exercises. Student mothers are entitled to scholarships for success and European and special scholarships. They can apply to the Rector of the University at the beginning of the year for one-time assistance up to 300 BGN. There is a scholarship for mothers with children up to 6 years of age, which is received upon an approved application from the beginning of the first year of study or from the month the child was born. Such scholarships may be awarded to student mothers by the end of the semester in which the child reaches 6 years of age or by the end of the month in which the last state examination is to be taken. One-time assistance under the Family Aid for Children Act may be used. It is in the amount of BGN 2,800 and is paid as follows: 50% upon admission, and the other part after submission of a certificate from the university for enrollment in the next semester or higher education. The certificate shall be presented until the child reaches the age of one. If more than one child is present, the mother is still entitled to this assistance. If they have unjustifiably refused the financial assistance, the refusal may be appealed in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Code.
