Military pension

A military pension is just like a normal retirement and old-age pension, but it is granted on less favorable terms as you, as a serviceman, put your life and health at risk in the name of your country. The military is provided by the state. There are several requirements according to which you will be able to receive a military pension. 1. Of course, you must be part of the Bulgarian Armed Forces. 2. If you are fired, it will not affect your retirement, as in the military it is termination of service. 3. For military servicemen the length of service is 27 years minimum and every 3 years is considered to be 5 years of service. If you have participated in missions and operations that are highly life-threatening, 1 year is considered 3 years of insurance. 4. With respect to the retirement age, it shall be increased every year for 2 months until the minimum, which is 55 years, is reached. In 2017, the minimum age increased to 53 years. The difference between a military pension and an ordinary pension is that the minimum retirement age is lower, the minimum retirement length is lower, and the pension is higher. If you have been a military major for most of your life but at some point began working under a contract of employment, your work experience as a worker is considered military. You apply for a military pension by submitting an application together with documents regarding your insurance experience with the NSSI. The military registration book replaces the employment and social security. You are not entitled to both a regular pension and a military pension. But you can also receive a military disability pension and a regular pension at the same time.
