Local taxes

Taxes in Bulgaria are of two types - national and local. The republican ones are determined by the state and entered into the state budget. The size of the local is determined by the municipalities and they are transferred to the budget of the specific municipality. You owe local taxes when you: own a real estate property; you have a building that is built on state or municipal land; manage property of the state or municipality; you have a real right of use; you are a concessionaire. When you have more than one home, you get a reduction of 50 per 100 for what you live in (the main one). When acquiring a property, you must file a tax return with the municipality where it is located. You will owe inheritance tax when the inheritance you inherited is not from your relative or spouse. You again file your tax return within 6 months of opening the inheritance. Tax on the transfer of acquired real estate or limited property right is also payable, as well as for the acquisition of property by donation. If the donation is from relatives in a straight line or between spouses, no tax is paid. In these cases, you must file a tax return within 2 months of receiving the inheritance. Taxes are also paid on vehicles, patent tax. If you have places to stay, you also pay a tourist tax.
