The foster family represents two spouses or a single person accommodating a child to raise in a family environment. The contract defines the rights and obligations of the foster parents. The foster family is divided into voluntary and professional families. The professional family has a child-raising qualification and contracts with a foster care provider. Professional foster families offer special services as a result of their qualifications and are paid for the care they provide. Voluntary foster parents receive monthly support and one-off benefits, which can be in kind. As a foster parent, one does not become the true parent of the child. Those mentioned in his birth certificate are considered his parents.

It shall be accompanied by: Identity document - copy (eg ID card); a document from the Unified System of Civil Registration and Administrative Services for the Population (ESGRAON) to show that the person has not been placed under interdiction and has not been deprived or restricted parental rights; a statement that there are no obstacles to being a foster parent, as described below; medical certificate that the person does not suffer from certain diseases such as AIDS, cholera, etc .; criminal record; a document certifying that no criminal proceedings have been instituted against the person who wishes to be a foster parent for an intentional crime of a general nature - the document is issued by the Prosecutor's Office. The application must specify two guarantors to give individual recommendations to the person as foster parent. Subsequently, in assessing his or her fitness to be a foster parent, they must make written recommendations and be interviewed. If necessary, the foster care social service provider is entitled to request other documents as well as information from the relevant public authorities regarding the application documents.
