Entry of foreigners into Bulgaria and visa regime
(1) A foreigner may enter the Republic of Bulgaria if he holds a regular passport or a travel document replacing it, as well as a visa when required.
(2) A visa is not required when this is provided for in Council Regulation (EC) No. 539/2001, in other binding EU acts, in an international treaty to which the Republic of Bulgaria is a party, or in an act of the Council of Ministers .
(3) A visa is not required even when the foreigner has a valid permit for long-term, long-term or permanent residence in the Republic of Bulgaria.
(4) After acceptance and approval of an application for family reunification, family members are issued visas under a simplified procedure under conditions and according to the procedure determined by an act of the Council of Ministers.
(5) A foreigner who is a member of the family of a Bulgarian citizen may enter the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria with a passport and a visa, when one is required. The visa is issued under conditions and according to the order determined by the Council of Ministers, without payment of fees for processing the documents and issuing the visa.
(6) A visa is not required when a foreigner who is a family member of a Bulgarian citizen holds a residence card of a family member of a citizen of the European Union, issued in:
1. The Republic of Bulgaria, if the grounds for its issuance have not expired;
2. another member state of the European Union, if accompanying or joining the Bulgarian citizen.
(7) The border control authorities do not allow entry into the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria to a person who claims to be a family member of a Bulgarian citizen, but has not certified this within a reasonable time with a document or other appropriate document. The refusal is motivated and subject to appeal.ю
