Each health insured person is given one preventive check within one calendar year. It is performed by the doctor and the dentist, respectively, who are obliged to provide the patient with information about the type and frequency of prophylactic examinations. Their purpose is not only to protect the health of the patient, but also that of others. Prophylactic examinations vary differently depending on the age of the person and whether they are exposed to risk factors.
As an insured adult (over 18 years of age), everyone's annual preventive checkup includes: history and detailed status; calculation of body mass index; assessment of mental status; examination of visual acuity (without diopter determination); measurement of blood pressure; electrocardiogram; urine test with test strips. Every woman aged 30 years and over is required to undergo a manual breast examination every year. All the studies that each one passes (within the preventive examination) are covered by the National Health Insurance Fund, ie. they are not paid for as long as there is a contract between the hospital and the NHIF.
Aside from everyone's right, having a preventive check is a must! And like any obligation, if it is not fulfilled, a sanction follows. In the first violation, a fine of 50 to 100 BGN can be imposed, and in the second one - 100 to 200 BGN. The same fines are paid if your child is not taken on one of the mandatory immunizations.
